Theobjectiveofthisstudywastodeterminethechangesincrystallinity,widthofcrystalliteandcrystallinetypeofheat-treatedChinesefir(CunninghamialanceolataHook)woodspecimensbymeansofXRDandFTIR.Thermalmodificationsinthepresenceofairwiththetemperatureof140℃,160℃,180℃,200℃and220℃forvariousheat-treatmentdurations(0.5to28h)weredonebyoven-driedwoodspecimens.Theresultsshowedthatthecomplexreactionsofmaincomponentscausedthemasslossremarkably.Thesametrendwereobtainedwhiletheinflectionpointofthoseoccurredat180℃and200℃,respectively.However,itwasdeterminedthatthemonoclinicstructure(Iβ)andtriclinicstructure(Iα)werenotaffectedbythermalmodificationandmonoclinicstructurewasdominantincrystallineofwoodspecimens.
