In-situsol-gelprocessisoneofthemostimportantmethodsforpreparationoforganic-inorganichybridswithhighperformanceproperties.Inpresentwork,theresultsshownthatintroducingthetetrabutylorthotitanate(TBOT)hasnoeffectsontheesterificationdegree,themolecularweightanditsdistribution,thermalpropertiesandfiberprocessabilityofresultedPETbasehybridresin.Thesphere-likenano-TiO2hasbeenin-situformedandisalmostmono-andwell-dispersedintoPETmatrix.ItisattributedtopartiallyorganicmodificationasshownbyFTIRwhileitisin-situformed.TheresultedPETcompositeswithlowerthan0.5wt%nano-TiO2contentcanbewindedwith800rpmwindingspeedatstablespinpackpressureunder305℃chesttemperatureand35.6g·ml-1pumpdelivery.Theas-spunfibershavegooddrawingabilityandthetensilestrengthatbreakoftheresultedfiberscanamounttoabout3.8cN/dtex.TheseindicatethattheresultedPETresinswithlowerthan0.5wt%nano-TiO2contenthavegoodspinnability.UVshieldingabilityofthefabricisexcellent.ItsUPF(UVprotectionfactor)offabricishigherthan50asitsnano-TiO2containingishigherthan0.3wt%.Therefore,itisapromisingwaytodevelopfunctionalpolyesterbasehybridmaterialsincludingfiber,plasticandcoatingbyourso-calledbothin-situfabricationmethod.
