Inthispapersisalfiber(SF)werepretreatedbyalkalitreatment,thensisalfiber/phenolformaldehyde(SF/PF)compositeswerepreparedthroughcompressionmolding.Theeffectsofsisalfiberadditionmodeandsisal/glass(SF/GF)hybridphenolformaldehydecompositeswithglass/sisalweightratioonmechanicalproperties,thermalproperties,waterabsorptionpropertiesandelectricallyinsulatingpropertieswerestudied.Resultsindicatedthatpolymerizationfillingisanovelsynthesizingmethods.TheSF/PFcompositesmadebythismethodhasincreased17.61%,7.16%,12.25%inimpactstrength,bendingstrengthandbendingmodulusrespectivelythanconventionalphysicalblendingmethod.SF/GF/PFcompositesshowedhighermechanicalpropertieswhenSF/GFis1/1,andthermalpropertiesimprovedfortheadditionofGF；Sisalfiberandglassfiberexhibitpositivehybrideffectinwaterabsorptionpropertieswhilenegativehybrideffectininsulatingproperties.Thestudiesoffiber-matrixinteractionandfracturebehaviorofthefracturedsurfacesofthecompositesarealsomadebyscanningelectronmicrographs.
