Takingintoconsiderationthattheabundantpartofreinforcingfillersusedintherubberindustryworldwideisoilbasedand/orproducedonthebasisofhighenergyconsumptionprocessesoneurgentdemandistofindstrategiesforalternativefillersmadefromnaturalsources.Intheseregards,ithasbeenrecognizedthatnaturalnanofibreshavethepotentialtoplayasimilarlygradedrolealongsideconventionalfillers.Thisrequiresthattheunderlyingperformanceofthetargetedrubberproductismaintained.Ontheotherhandnano-fibresopennewfunctionalitiesbyspecificboundaryinteractionsormorphologicalcharacteristicswhenproperlydispersedintheelastomermatrix.
