Glucosamineisabioavailableammosugar.IthelpstorelievethesymptomsofosteoarthritisItimprovesjointstrength,enhancejointfunction.rebuildandmaintainconnectivetissue.Itisadministeredasasulfateorhydrochloridesalt,Glucosaminebaseistheactivecomponentnotthesalt.Glucosamineisalsocompletelyionizedinthestomachandleavingtheglucosaminebase.Variousanalyticalmethodshavebeenreportedforthedeterminationofglucosamineinrawmaterialsanddietarysupplementsincludingmassspectroscopydetection,refractiveindex,flameionizationdetection,indirectUV(orfluorescence)andpulsedamperometricdetectionforgaschromatography,highperformanceliquidchromatography(HPLC),ionchromatographyandcapillaryelectrophoresis(CE).Glucosaminelackschromophores(orfluorophores)whichfacilitatethesensitivedetectionwithUV(orfluorescence)detection.Anumberofmethodshavebeenreportedbasedonreductiveaminationwithvariouschromophores(fluorophores):aminobenzoicacid(AA),8-aminonaphthalene-1.3,6-trisulfonate(ANTS),IIdansylhydrazine(DHZ)and9-aminoacridone(AMAC).Electrogeneratedchemiluminescence(ECL)istheprocesswherelightemissiontakesplaceasaresultofhigh-energyelectron-transferreaction.Thisreactionoccursatthesurfaceofelectrodeasaconsequenceofformationofexcitedstatespeciestakesplace.Itisproventobeapowerfulanalyticaltechniqueasithascombinedtheadvantagesofchemiluminescenceandelectrochemistry.
