Zincoxide,hexanedioicacid,PEG,caprolactamandMDIwerechosenasrawmaterialstosynthesizepoly(etheresteramidecontainingzinc)(M-PEEAM).ThePP/M-PEEAMcompositeandfiberwerethenpreparedbyblendingM-PEEAMandPP.TherheologicalandthermalpropertiesofthePP/M-PEEAMcompositewereinvestigated,andthemicrostructureofthePP/M-PEEAMfiberwasobservedbySEM.TherheologicalstudyindicatedthecomplexviscosityofthePP/M-PEEAMcompositereducedwiththeincreaseofthefrequencywithinacertainrange,whichexplainsthatthePP/M-PEEAMcompositeshowedobviouslyrheologicalbehaviorofpseudoplasticfluid.DSCstudyindicatedthecompositehadalargeendothermicpeakat166-167℃andtwosmallendothermicpeakat50℃and218℃,respectively,implyingthatPPwasincompatiblewithM-PEEAM.However,theM-PEEAMcontentinthecompositehadnotmuchinfluenceonthemeltingtemperatureofPP.SEMshowedthatPP/M-PEEAMblendsgaveatwo-phasestructurewithsphericallyM-PEEAMdispersedinPPmatrixandthesizeofdispersionphaseincreasedwithincreasingM-PEEAMcontent.
