Theinfluenceofspinningandthermaltreatmentconditionsonformationofthecrystalliticstructureandmechanicalpropertiesofmesophasepitch-basedcarbonfibers(MPCFs)wasstudied.Thepitchwasmelt-spunatsuitabletemperatureundervariouspressureandelongationrates.Thentheas-spunpitchfiberswerestabilizedandcarbonized.XRDwasusedtomeasurethepreferredorientation,singleyarntensiletesterwasusedtomeasurethetensilestrengthandmodulus,andSEMwasappliedtoobservethecrosssectionofthecarbonfiber.Asthecrystalliticorientationincreasingfrom77.3%to83.1%,thetensilestrengthofMPCFsincreasedfrom1.001GPato1.842GPaandmodulusincreasedfrom94GPato246GParespectively.TheresultsshowedthatthetensilestrengthandmodulusofMPCFsincreasedwithcrystallitepreferredorientationincreasing.Moreover,theskin-corestructurewaseasytoformforthefiberwithlargerdiameter,whichwasalsoacrucialfactortoinfluencethemechanicalpropertiesofcarbonfibers.
