Epoxyresinshavebeenwidelyusedforelectronicpackagingapplicationsbecauseofeasyprocessingandhighmechanicalstrength,buttheirlowthermalconductivitycan,tmeettherequirementsofthermalinterfacematerialcl].Carbonnanotubes(CNTs)areusuallyrecognizedasverypromisingconductivefillersduetotheirintrinsicallyhighthermalconductivityofabout3000W/rriKc2].However,it‘sdifficulttoimprovethedispersionoftheCNTsinepoxymatrixbecauseofthestrongintrinsicVanderWaalsforcesbetweentheCNTs,andtheviscosityofthecomplexwillincreaseobviously,andthereforeprocessingproblemsareobserved.Theionicsolvent-freecarbonnanotubefluidsbehaveliquid-likeintheabsenceofsolventatroomtemperature[3].Inthisstudy,ionicsolvent-freecarbonnanotubefluidsweresynthesizedbyattachingacoronaofionicflexiblechainsontothesurfaceofCNTs,thentheviscosityandthermalconductivityofionicsolvent-freecarbonnanotubefluids/epoxycompositeswereinvestigated.ComparedwithpureCNTs/epoxycomposites,theviscosityofsolvent-freecarbonnanotubefluids/epoxycompositesdecreasedsignificantly,andthethermalconductivityoftheresultingcompositesalsoincreased,whicharebeneficialtotheprocessabilityofcompositesandmakesitpossibletopreparehighfillerloadingsepoxycomposites.
