Anovelsupramolecularsingle-crystalcompound,histidinesaltof12-silicotungstate((HisH2)2SiW12O40·6H2O,denotedasHSW),hasbeensynthesizedbyasolutionmethodanditsstructurehasbeencharacterizedbysinglecrystalX-raydiffractiontechniqueandFTIRspectra.Thissupramolecularcompoundmainlyconsistsofapolyoxometalateanions[SiW12O40]4-andtwoprotonatedhistidinecations[HisH2]2+.Itscrystalstructurebelongstomonoclinicsystem(spacegroupC2/c)witha=24.4005(18),b=12.9788(10),c=18.6898(14),β=124.0380(10)°,V=4904.8(6)3,Z=4andDcalc=4.465gcm–3.ThefinalstatisticsbasedonF2areGOF=1.268,R1=0.0344andwR2=0.0851forI>2σ(I).X-raydiffractionanalysisrevealsthatinthecrystalstructureofHSW,theanions[SiW12O40]4-and[HisH2]2+cationsformedathreedimensionalnetworkthroughhydrogenbonds.TheHSWcompoundshowsphotochromicpropertiesunderUVirradiation.
