Inthispaper,twokindsofimidazole-basedionicliquids,1-butyl-3-methylimidazoliumchloride([BMIM]Cl)and1-ethyl-3-methylimidazoliumacetate([EMIM]Ac),wereusedasthesolventsofcellulose.Thedissolvingcharacteristicsofcelluloseinthesetwoionicliquidswereinvestigatedwithpolarizingmicroscope.Therheologicalbehaviorandspinningperformanceofthesetwocellulosesolutionsfrom[EMIM]Acand[BMIM]Clwereinvestigated.Theresultsshowedthatcellulosehadlowerdissolutiontemperatureandfastervelocityin[EMIM]Ac,comparedwith[BMIM]Cl.Bothcellulosesolutionsbelongedtotypicalshearthinningfluids.Atthesamecondition,theapparentviscosityofthecellulose/[EMIM]Acsolutionwaslowerthanthatofcellulose/[BMIM]Clsolution,indicatingthatthecellulose/[EMIM]Acsolutioncouldbespunatalowertemperature.GPCresultsshowedthatduringthedissolutionandspinningprocess,thedegradationofcellulosein[BMIM]C1wasgreaterthanonein[EMIM]Ac.Moreover,itwasfoundthattheorientation,crystallinity,breakingtenacityandinitialmodulusofthecellulosefibreregeneratedfrom[BMIM]Clwerehigherthanthosefrom[EMIM]Ac.
