Accordingtotheprinciplesoflifecycleassessment(LCA),anewLCA-basedecologicaldesignmethodologyforcottonfabricisproposedinthispaper.Afactorsystembasedontheenvironmentalinfluencesofglobal,regionalandlocalareasisestablished,whichincludestheresourceconsumption,globalwarming,oxygendepletion,acidification,eutrophication,speckorashandecologicaltoxicity.Thesefactorsareusedtoevaluatethepotentialenvironmentalimpact.Basedonthecharacteristicsofcottontextilesandtheenvironmentprinciplesofecologicaldesign,theecologicaldesignprocessofcotton-fabricproductisdividedintoseveralstagessuchasrawmaterial,production,sale,usageanddisposition.Inparticular,theresultsoftheLCA-basedecologicaldesignareassessedwithenvironmentimpactload(EIL).AfterecologicaldesigntheEILofcottontextilesisdecreasedanditisrecommendedthatEIL=0.484couldbetakenasadefaultsettingtojudgewhethercottontextilesisenvironmental-friendly.
