Theternarycompositesareexpectedtoexhibitexcellentcooperativeeffectswhileremainingthemainadvantageousphysical-chemicalpropertiesofindividualingredients.Inthiswork,thefeasibilitystudyontheapplicationofthenovelorganic-inorganichybridcompositesconsistingofmulti-walledcarbonnanotubes(MWCNTs),manganesedioxide(MnO2)nanorodsandpolyanilineassupercapacitvematerialwasconducted.MnO2nanorodswerefirstlysynthesizedbyone-stephydrothermalmethodinthepresenceoftheMWCNTswithlessstructuraldefects,thentheanilinemonomerswereintroducedintotheabovebinarysystemandtheternarycompositeswerepreparedbyinsituchemicalpolymerizationunderultrasonicirradiation.ItisfoundthattheMnO2nanorodsandMWCNTsareeffectivedispersedontoapolyanilinematrix,andthepolyanilinecoatinglayersareformedontothesurfacesofmetaloxidesandcarbonnanotubes.Comparativeelectrochemicaltestsrevealthattheternarycompositeselectrodeshowsmuchbetterelectrochemicalperformances,whichisoftendifficulttoachieveformanganesedioxide(MnO2)nanorodsandMWCNTscomposites.SuchimprovementcanbecontributedtotheformationofpolyanilinecoatinglayerasaphysicalbarriertorestraintheunderlyingMnO2andMWCNTscompositesfromreductive-dissolutionprocess,andbetterinter-particleconnectivitytothemetaloxidematerialandthecarbonnanotubesinthecomposites.
