WiththeMM-200frictionandweartestingmachine,thefrictionandwearpropertiesofnano-ZrO2particlesmodifiedUltraHighMolecularWeightPolyethylene(UHMWPE)compositewerestudiedunderdifferentlubricatingconditions.Thewornsurfaceisobservedbytheopticsmicroscopeandscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM)toexaminethewearmechanismofthecomposite.Theresultshowsthattheadditionofnano-ZrO2particlescanincreasethehardnessandfrictioncoefficientofUHMWPEandimprovethetribologicalpropertiesofthecompoundmaterial.ThewearresistanceofthepolymerthatisfilledinisbetterthanuntreatedUHMWPE.TheUHMWPEthatisfilledin2%nano-ZrO2particleshasthebesttribologicalproperties.
