Exfoliatedpolyvinylchloride(PVC)/MgAllayereddoublehydroxide(LDH)nanocompositeshadbeenpreparedbyexfoliationrestackingmethodusinglauryletherphosphate(PK)modifiedLDH.TheformationprocessandstructureoftheexfoliatedPVC/LDHnanocompoiteswerecharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD)andtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),showingthatLDHwerewellexfoliatedanduniformlydistributedinPVCmatrix.Withdifferentialscanningcalorimetry(DSC)theglasstransitiontemperaturesofPVCphasesinthePVC/LDHnanocompositesweremeasuredandaslightlowervaluethanthatofpristinePVChadbeengiveninthepaper.Thermogravimetricanalysis(TGA)resultsshowthatthepresenceofLDHenhancedthedehydrochlorinationtemperature(Tmax1),reducedthemaximumdegradationrate(Rmax1)andthe5%weightlosstemperature,andpromotedthecharformationofPVC.However,thethermaldegradationtemperature(Tmax2)andthermaldegradationrate(Rmax2)ofthedehydrochlorinatedPVCwerelittleaffectedbythepresenceofLDH.TheapparentactivationenergieswerecalculatedbythemethodofFlynn-Wall-Ozawainnitrogenatfourdifferentheatingrates,showingthatthenanocompositeincreasedtheapparentactivationenergiesby10-26kJ/molwhencomparedwithpristinePVC,implyingthattheexfoliatedLDHlayersimprovethestabilityofchlorineatomonthePVCchains.
