Thepolymertranslocationintonanoporesisgenerallyfacilitatedbyexternaldrivingforces,suchaselectricorhydrodynamicfields,tocompensateforentropicrestrictionsimposedbytheconfinement.Weinvestigatethedynamicsoftranslocationdrivenbypolymeradsorptiontotheconfiningwallsthatisrelevanttochromatographicseparationofmacromolecules.Byusingtheself-consistentfieldtheory,westudythepassageofachaintroughasmallopeningfromcistotranscompartmentsofsphericalshapewithadsorptionpotentialappliedinthetranscompartment.ThechaintransferismodeledastheFokker-Plankdiffusionalongthefreeenergylandscapeofthetranslocationpassrepresentedasasumofthefreeenergiesofcisandtranspartsofthechaintetheredtotheporeopening.Weinvestigatehowthechainlength,thesizeoftranscompartment,themagnitudeofadsorptionpotential,andtheextentofexcludedvolumeinteractionsaffectthetranslocationtimeanditsdistribution.Interplayofthesefactorsbringsaboutavarietyofdifferenttranslocationregimes.Weshowthatexcludedvolumeinteractionswithinacertainrangeofadsorptionpotentialscancausealocalminimumonthefreeenergylandscape,whichisabsentforidealchains.Theadsorptionpotentialalwaysleadstothedecreaseofthefreeenergybarrier,increasingtheprobabilityofsuccessfultranslocation.However,thetranslocationtimedependsnon-monotonicallyofthemagnitudeofadsorptionpotential.Ourcalculationspredicttheexistenceofthecriticalmagnitudeofadsorptionpotential,whichseparatesfavorableandunfavorableregimesoftranslocation.
