Well-dispersedmultiwalledcarbonnanotubes(MWNTs)insodiumalginate(SA)aqueoussolutionshavebeenprepared.Transmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM)wasemployedtodeterminethedistributionoftheMWNTsinthesolutioninamicroscopicscale.Thedispersionandrheologicalbehaviorofthenanotubesinthesolutionwasmonitoredbyrheology.ItwasfoundthattheadditionofMWNTshadanobviousinfluenceontherheologicalbehaviorofthecomposites.AstheMWNTsloadingincreased,zero-shearviscosityincreased,andthecriticalfrequencyofthetypicaltransitionfromviscoustoelasticbehaviordecreasedwhichsuggestedatransitionfromliquid-liketosolid-likeviscoelasticbehavior.TheapplicationofCole-ColeanalysisrevealedthattheMWNTshadagooddispersioninSAsolutionevenathighcontent.
