Thetransportationandcollectionofchargesinadisorderednanoscaleblendcouldbehinderedbyphaseboundariesanddiscontinuitiesinblendsofconductingpolymersandcarbonnanotubes.Anovelcore-shellheterostructurewasfabricatedbyinsitupolymerizationofpoly(p-phenylenevinylene)(PPV)precursorinthepresenceofmulti-walledcarbonnanotubes(MWCNTs)withlessdefectunderultrasonicirradiation.Runsundermagneticstirringwerealsocarriedoutinasamereactionflaskforcomparison.TEMimagesfurthershowedthatcore-shellheterostructuresconsistingofcarbonnanotubecoreandPPVshellweresuccessivelyfabricatedundercontinuousultrasonicirradiation.BlueshiftsintheopticalspectraconsistingoftheUV-visabsorptionandphotoluminescencespectrawiththeattractionofPPVonthesurfaceoftheMWCNTswereobserved.TheevidentquenchinginphotoluminescencespectrawasascribedtotheabsorptionandtransferofrecombinationenergybyMWCNTs.Theenhancementintheelectrochemicalpropertiescanbeattributedtotheintrinsicnanophaseseparationincore-shellheterostructuresandthecombinationoftwomaterialswithdifferentelectronicproperties.
