Anoveluniquemacromolecule,quaternaryammoniumsaltofhyperbranchedpolyester(H20-EPTAC)waspreparedbythereactionofhyperbranchedpolyesterBoltornH20with2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammoniumchloride(EPTAC)usingsodiumhydroxideasanalkalinecatalystinDMF.AseriesofproductswereobtainedbyvaryingthemolarratioofH20toEPTAC.TheflocculationpropertiesofH20-EPTACfordyeingwastewaterwerestudied.TheinfluencesofthedosageofH20-EPTAC,pHandinitialconcentrationofdyeontheefficiencyofdyeremovalwerediscussed.ThedyeremovalefficiencyofAcidRubineAPP,DirectBlue4GLandAcidBlackBRreached93%,90%and97%,respectively.Theoptimumdosagewasdifferentfordifferenttypesofdyes.ThedyeremovalefficiencyincreasedwithincreasingmolarratioofEPTAC.TheseresultsindicatedthatH20-EPTAChadagoodpotentialfortreatingdyeingwastewater.Theflocculationmechanismmaybeduetothetheoryofchargeneutralizationandmoleculartrestlebridge.
