Bacterialcellulose(BC)isakindofcelluloseproducedbybacteria,anditisoneofthemostpromisingbiomaterialswithbroadprospectiveapplications.FewresultsondissolvingBCwerereported.LiCl/DMACsolventsystemisthemainlyusedmethod,butthismethodisexpensive,andisonlylimitedinlabresearch.Inordertofindmoreefficientandrelativelycheapsolvents,thedissolutionofBCinionicliquidsof1-allyl-3-methylimidazoliumchloride[AMIM]Cland1-butyl-3-methylimidazoliumchloride[BMIM]Clwereinvestigatedinthisstudy.DifferentBCtypes(dryorwet),differentdissolutiontemperaturesanddifferenttypesofregeneratingreagentsforBCregenerationwereutilizedtoevaluatethedissolutionandregenerationpropertiesofBC.Theresultsshowedthatfreeze-driedBCwasmoreeasilydissolvedthangel-likewetBC;themaximumsolubilitywas3%(w/v).Theoptimaldissolutiontemperaturewasdetermined.Whendeionizedwaterwasusedasregeneratingreagent,aBCsuspensionsolutionwasobtained.TheBCcouldbeharvestedbycentrifugationandtheionicliquidscouldberecoveredbyrotaryevaporationtoremovewater.
