Pyrolysisofamorphouscopolyesterpoly(ethyleneglycol-co-cyclohexane1,4-dimethanolterephthalate)(PETG)wasinvestigatedatdifferenttemperaturesfrom300℃to700℃byusingpyrolysis-gaschromatography/massspectroscopy(Py-GC/MS)analysis.ThepyrolysisproductsofPETGhasbeenascertained.Theresultsshowedthatsomecompoundssuchasbenzene,tolueneandp-xylenecouldonlybeformedabove500℃.Duringpyrolysis,polymericchainscissiontookplaceasasuccessiveremovalofthecomonomerunitsfromthepolymericchain.Thechainscissionwasfollowedbysecondaryreactions,whichproducedavarietyofcompounds.ThepyrolysismechanismofPETGhasalsobeendiscussed,whichisattributedtopolymericchainscissionandthesecondaryreactionssuchasintramoleculardehydration,rearrangement,cyclizationanddissociationofcyclicfragments.
