Themagneticnanocomposite,attapulgite/Fe3O4(AT-Fe3O4),waspreparedviaasimpletwo-stepmethod.irst,charge-basedinteractionbetweenFe3+andthesurfaceofATwasformed,andthenFe3O4nanoparticleswasynthesizedbyco-precipitationtechniqueinaqueoussuspensionofpurifiedAT,whichresultingintheformationofT-Fe3O4.TheobtainednanocompositeparticleswerecharacterizedbyFouriertransforminfraredspectrometer(FI-IR),-raydiffractionmeasurements(XRD),BETsurfaceareaanalyzer,high-resolutionscanningelectronmicroscopeHRSEM)andvibratingsamplemagnetometry(VSM).TheresultsofFT-IRandXRDrevealedthechemicalcompositionndcrystallinestructureoftheobtainedcomposite.TheresultsofmorphologyobservationshowedthatFe3O4anoparticleswerewelldepositedonthesurfaceofAT.ComparedwithpureAT,theAT-Fe3O4nanocompositeexhibitedetterabsorptionandsuperparamagneticproperties,asrevealedfromthespecificsurfaceareaanalysisandmagneticeasurements,respectively.TheAT-Fe3O4nanocompositemayfindpotentialapplicationsinwastewatertreatment.
