AnovelnanofibrousaffinitymembranewasusedforremovingCu(II)fromaqueoussolutions.Themembranesofpoly(ethersulfones)(PES)blendedwithafunctionalpolymerpoly(ethyleneimine)(PEI)werefabricatedbyelectrospinningtechniquefollowedbycrosslinkedinamixtrueofacetoneandethyletherwithglutaraldehyde(crosslinkingagent,GA).TheadsorbabilityforCu(II)ofthePES/PEInanofibrousaffinitymembranewasinvestigatedbyaseriesofstaticadsorptionexperiments.TheeffectofcontacttimeandinitialCu(II)concentrationontheadsorptionperformancewassystematicallyinvestigated.EquilibriumstudiesshowthatCu(II)adsorptiondatafollowLangmuirmodelandthemaximumadsorptioncapacityforCu(II)wasestimatedtobe63.82mg·g1drymembranewithaLangmuiradsorptionconstantof0.0191L/mg.Fromthesepreliminaryevaluations,itispossibletoconcludethatthePES/PEInanofibrousaffinitymembraneshavegreatpotentialforapplicationsinwatertreatmentfortheremovalofheavymetalions.
