Thestudyonthepreparationandpropertiesofmetal/polymersnanocompositesisoneofthehotfieldsinchemistryandmaterialsscience.Afacilemethodtopreparenanocompositescomposedofmagneticalloysandpolymershavebeenexploitedinthispaper.Mono-dispersivepoly(methylmethacrylate)(PMMA)microspheresindiametersofabout350nmwerepreparedbyemulsifier-freeemulsionpolymerization.SphericalFe-Ni/PMMAnanocompositeswithdiametersof80nmwerefirstlyobtainedinalcoholonamildconditionusinghydrazineasreductionagent,whichwerecharacterizedbyX-raypowderdiffraction(XRD),transmissionelectronmicroscope(TEM)andinfraredspectroscopy(IR)spectroscopy.TheresultsindicatedthatFe-Nialloyshavefacecenteredcubiccrystalstructures,andthatthediameterofnanocompositeissmallerthantheoriginalPMMAmicrosphere.IRspectrumofnanocompositeimpliedthathydrolysisofPMMAhadoccurredinthecourseofthereduction.SphericalFe-Ni/PMMAnanocompositeisatypicalsoftmagnet.
