Inrecentyears,polymersbasedondielectricmaterialswithhighdielectricconstantandlowdielectriclosshaveattractedconsiderableinterestduetotheirpotentialapplicationsinartificialmuscles,energystorage,flexibleelectronics,andsensors,etc.Inmostcases,ceramicfillersormetalparticlesorcarbonnanotubeswereaddedintothepolymermatrixtoincreasethedielectricconstant.However,thisinevitablyledtotheobviousincreaseindielectricloss.Tosolvethisproblem,inthiswork,orientatedmultiwallcarbonnanotubes(MWNTs)array/Polyvinylalcohol(PVA)nanocompositefilmswerepreparedbyusinganelectrospun-in-situfilm-formingtechnique.Forcomparisonpurpose,thecompositefilmswithMWNTsrandomlydispersedinPVAmatrixwerealsopreparedbysolutioncasting.Theresultsshowedthatthetwotypesofcompositeshadgreatlydifferentmicrostructuresanddielectricproperties.Comparedwithsolutioncastingcompositefilms,MWNTsinelectrospun-in-situcompositefilmswerenotonlyuniformlydispersedinPVAmatrix,butalsoalignedinonedirection,whicheffectivelypreventedMWNTstocurl,windandformtheconnectingnetworks,andthusdramaticallyincreasedthepercolationthresholdfrom0.5wt%t02.8wt%.Asaresult,thedielectricconstantoftheelectrospun-in-situformedfilmswassignificantlyincreasedupt0105forthefilmswith4.0wt%MWNTs.Moreimportantly,aratherlowdielectricloss(一0.8)wassuccessfullyachievedwiththeincorporationof4.0wt%MWNTs.However,forthecompositesfilmspreparedbysolutioncasting,althoughahigherdielectricconstant(~400)wasobtainedbyadding4.0wt%MWNTs,thedielectriclossreachedaparticularlyhighvalue(一i5).Ourworkindicatesthatpolymer/MWNTsdielectricmaterialswithhighdielectricconstantandlowdielectriclosscouldbesuccessfullyobtainedbyusingelectrospinningin-situfilm-formingtechniqueduetothewell-dispersionandalignmentofMWNTsinpolymermatrix.
