WeworkondevelopmentofnovellowdimensionalBNnanofillersforcompositematerials,followedbypolymericcompositefabrication.WehavebeenabletoproducegramslevelhighlypureBNNTsbyanovelCVDmethodcl].Furthercharacterizationrevealstheirhighelasticmodulus,superoxidationresistanceetc[2].Moreover,throughaliquidexfoliationmethod,ultra-thintwodimensionalBNnanosheetswerefabricated;thenanosheetspossessnanosizethickness(downt01.2nm)andmicrosizelateralareaC3].UtilizingthenovelBNnanofillersfabricated,Polymer/BNNTscompositeswerefabricated.WithIwt%BNNTs,fraction,elasticmodulusofmatrixwasimprovedupt02l%c4].Inaddition,duetospecificsurfaceproperties,BNnanosheetswerefoundtobemoreeffectiveformechanicalreinforcement:withonly0.3wt%BNnanosheetsfraction,22%increaseofmatrix‘selasticmoduluswasobserved.Inaddition,wealsodevelopvarioushighlythermo-conductiveinsulatingpolymericcomposites.Afiltering-absorbingmethodwasadoptedtoembedhighfractionofBNNTsinmatrix.Bythismethod,with24wt%BNNTs,fraction,thethermalconductivityofmatrixcanbe20-folded.Thecoefficientofthermalexpansionwasalsoremarkablyreducedandelectricalinsulationwaskept.Theoverallperformanceoftheobtainedcompositematerialswasthoroughlyinvestigated.OurstudiesindicatesthelowdimensionalBNnanomaterials,suchasBNNTs,BNnanosheets,areverypromisingfillersforcompositematerialstoobtainhighthermalconductivity,highelectricalresistance,lowcoefficientofthermalexpansionandhighmechanicalstrengthetc.
