Theformationofnanohybridshish-kebab(NHSK)superstructure,inwhichfibrillouscarbonnanotubes(CNTs)actasshishwhilepolymerlamellaeaskebab,isanovelwaytobondthepolymerandCNTstogetherandwasfirstobservedinthesolutioncrystallizationofpolyethyleneinthepresenceofCNTs.Inthiswork,adirectformationofnanohybridshish-kebabintheinjectionmoldedbarofhigh-densitypolyethylene(HDPE)/multi-walledcarbonnanotubes(MWCNTs)compositehasbeenachieved,viaaso-calleddynamicpackinginjectionmoldingtechnology(DPIM),inwhichoscillatoryshearfieldwasimposedonthegraduallycooledmeltduringthepackingsolidificationstage.Interestingly,whateverthelongaxisofCNTsisperpendiculartoorparalleltotheshearflowdirection,thelamellaeofPEisalwaysperpendiculartolongaxisofCNTs.
