Entanglementbetweenmacromolecularchains,beingoneofthebasicconsequencesoftheirconsiderablelengths,playsaveryimportantroleinthecourseofpolymerprocessesinwhichthesubstantialfragmentsofchainsinterpenetratemutually.Someofthemostsignificantexamplesofsuchprocessesarecrystallization,flowofmoltenpolymer,andmechanicaldeformationofsolidpolymers.Entanglementscontroltheprocessofcrystallizationanddeterminethefinalstructureofcrystalsformed.
