Polyhydroxyalkaonates(PHAs)arelinearpolymersynthesizedbyawidevarietyofbacteriaasanintracellularcarbonandenergystorageintermediate.Thecurrentinterestinthesebiopolyestersisstimulatedbythesearchforbiodegradablepolymersandenvironmentallyfriendlysustainableproductionprocessesforcommodityplastics.PHAsareoftensemicrystallinethermoplasticswhichcanbeprocessedbyconventionalinjectionmouldingprocedures.AdrawbackofthePHAsisthattheycandegradealreadyattemperaturestypicalforprocessingconditions.ResultswillbepresentedofastudyofrheologicalpropertiesandmolecularcharacterizationofviscoelasticmeltsofPolyhydroxybutyrate(PHB)andP(3HB-4HB)copolymerswithdifferentcopolymercompositions.Rheologicalpropertiesofthedifferentcopolymersweredeterminedbydynamicmechanicalanalysisasafunctionoftimeinthemeltstate.
