Cellulosesasthemostplentifulrenewableresourceintheworld,however,arenotsolubleinwaterorconventionalorganicsolventsbecauseofstrongintermolecularhydrogenbonding.Ionicliquidsarenewlydevelopedsolventshavingapowerfulabilityfordissolvingcelluloses.Recently,naturalcellulosehasbeenfoundtoformliquidcrystalsinsuitablesolvents[1].However,fewreportsabouttherheologicalandliquidcrystallinepropertiesofcellulosesinionicliquidscanbefoundintheliteratures.Inthisstudy,therheologicalpropertiesandliquidcrystalphaseandspherulitesofMicrocrystallineCellulose(MCC)/1-Allyl-3-rethylimidazoliumChloride(AMIMCl)concentratedsolutionshavebeeninvestigatedbyusingrheometerandpolarizedopticalmicroscope.
