Abstract:Thermalpropertiesandmorphologiesforpolymerblendsofpoly(ethyleneterephthalate)(PET)andepoxidisednaturalrubberwith25mole%(ENR-25)and50mole%epoxycontent(ENR-50)werestudiedbyusingdifferentialscanningcalorimeter(DSC)andpolarizingopticalmicroscope(POM),respectively.Theblendswerepreparedbyprecipitationmethod.Immiscibilityofthecomponentsisrevealedbyobservationoftwoglasstransitontemperatures(Tg)thatcorrespondtothatoftheneatconstituents.Equilibriummeltingpoints(Tmo)ofPETinblendswasdeterminedbyapplyingHoffman-Weeksstep-wiseannealingprocedure.ThedegreeofcrystallinityofPETinblendswithENR-25remainsconstantwhereasweobserveanincreaseinthedegreeinblendswithENR-50.
