Poly(e-caprolactone-b-ethyleneoxide-b-N-isopropylacrylamide)(PCL-b-PEO-b-PNIPAAm)triblockcopolymersweresynthesizedbycombinationtheanionicring-openingpolymerizationandreversibleaddition-fragmentationchaintransfer(RAFT)polymerization.Thelowercriticalsolutiontemperature(LCST)ofthecopolymerscouldbeadjustedbychangingthechainlengthofPNIPAAm.ThemicrospheresfabricatedbyPCL-b-PEO-b-PNIPAAmshowedathermo-responsiblesurface:PoroussurfaceattemperaturebelowtheLCST(eg.22oC)wastransferredintocompactsurfacewhenincreasingtemperatureabovetheLCST(eg.37oC).Asacontrol,microspheresfabricatedbypoly(e-caprolactone-b-ethyleneoxide)(PCL-b-PEO)didnotshowsuchkindofthermo-responsivemorphology.
