Thewavelikeflowmarkphenomenonisoneofthesurfacedefectsthatcanoccurduringtheinjectionstageoftheinjectionmoldingprocess.Itischaracterizedbyasurfacewithperiodichillsandvalleysrunningperpendiculartothedirectionofthemovementoftheflowfront[1].Inmanycasestheflowmarksareasynchronousoroutofphaseonoppositesurfacesofthepart,withacloudpartononesurfaceofthepartlocatedacrossfromalusterpartontheoppositesurface.Surfacedefectsknownaswavelikeflowmarksininjectionmoldingareencounteredwithavarietyofthermoplasticmaterials,includingneatpolymer,filledpolymers,andpolymerblend[2-3].Thesedefectshavebeenreportedatresinflowvelocitiesrangingfrom1to200mm/swithwavelengthsfrom1000to10μmandatadepthbetween150and0.01μm[4].
