Nanocompositesbasedonattapulgite(AT)andpoly(acrylonitrile)(PAN)werefabricatedbymechanicalblendingindimethylsulfoxide(DMSO).TherheologicalbehavioursofPAN/ATsolutionswereinvestigatedbyARESrheometerwithcone-plategeometry.TheresultsindicatedthattheorientationofsmallamountofATnanoparticlesundersteadyshearmayimprovethefluiditywhereaslargeamountofATleadtoanincreaseofviscosityofthesolution.Themechanicalpropertiesthenanocompositefibersshowedthatthetensilestrengthreachedamaximumwithincorporationof1wt%AT,whilethevalueofelongationatbreakdecreasedwithincreasingATcontent.
