Thisstudydealswiththepreparationofelectrospunfibersofpoly(lacticacid)(PLA)/expoxidizednaturalrubber(ENR)blendsaddedwithnanofillersusingelectrospinningtechnique.TheelectrospunPLA/ENR/nanofillerfiberswerecharacterizedbySEM.TheeffectofnanofilleradditiononthethermalpropertiesofPLA/ENRfiberswasthenstudiedusingDSCandTGAtechniques.Thevariousratiosof10wt%PLAand3wt%ENRinchloroformsolutionwithandwithoutnanofillers(Si02andTi02nanoparticles)weremixedandstirredhomogeneouslyfor40minbeforespinning.TheSEMimagesshowedthatthenanocompositefibersshowedaporousmorphologywithadiameterrangedfrom3-15ym.FromDSCresults,allelectrospunfibersexhibitedasignificantlowerTgthanthatofpurePLA(610C)cl],implyingthepartialmiscibilityoftheelectrospunPLA/ENRfibers.Also,crystallizationtemperature(Tc)wasfoundinallblendsfiberssuggestingtheenhancementofcrystallizationabilityofPLAduetothepresenceofENR.ThermalstabilityofmostPLA/ENRblendfiberswasslightlylessthanthatofpurePLAfiberc2].Interestingly,electrospunfibersofPLA/ENR(8:2)incorporatingwith0.Iwt%Si02nanofillerexhibitedasignificantimprovementinthermalstability.However,additionofTi02hadnoremarkableeffectonthermalstabilityofthenanocompositesfibers.
